One of our favorite resident features in our Saratoga and Troy apartment complexes are always the fitness centers or proximity to workout classes! Our locations are designed with residents in mind, and our apartments come either equipped with community fitness centers or are centrally located to nearby gyms and fitness studios. If you want to continue a healthful lifestyle all winter long, try out one of our favorite indoor-fitness exercises below.

 

12:3:30 Treadmill Trend

If you haven’t heard of this viral social media trend, the 12:3:30 treadmill workout is great for those who are looking for low-impact exercise. A great alternative to an outdoor hike, the 12:3:30 is the perfect workout for those looking to get in some steps when it’s chilly outside. Set your treadmill at an incline of 12, a speed of three, and a timer for 30 minutes to exercise your heart and lungs.

 

Floor Pilates

Did you know that Pilates is a low-impact exercise that focuses on strengthening your core? While typically done in a studio, Pilates can easily be done at home or in your apartment fitness center! While you can add on equipment like a weighted ball, nothing but a mat is required! Pilates is not comprised of extremely difficult exercises, but the movements you’ll be doing will activate your muscles, and you’ll certainly feel them working! You can find step-by-step videos on Youtube that are just right for you! Always start with a 5-10 minute warm-up to get your muscles ready. Try spending a few minutes stretching or on the treadmill!

 

Weights

Lifting with free weights is a great way to add muscle and strengthen your body! Free weights are great because they aren’t limited to specific single movements as machines are. You can customize your workouts and target specific areas of your body. How do you know what weight is right for you? A quick session of curls, squats, hip thrusts and more is a great way to get active.

 

Step Platform

Get in a High-Intensity-Interval-Training (HIIT) workout with a step platform! Put on a song you can move to and start stepping! Begin with your step base and work your way up to stacking. The higher you can get your steps, the more intense your workout will be! We love this exercise because it gets your heart rate with a simple activity.

 

Mix and Match

The best part about our locations being nearby to fitness centers is that you can incorporate all machines and equipment together! If you’re looking for a longer workout, and to target multiple areas of your body, incorporating different machines will help! Try out a circuit of shorter intervals of the workouts above to create a full-body session. Remember to always keep your limits and safety in mind!
